Established in 2002, Mountains Youth Band (MYB) is a community youth concert band and a division of Blue Mountains Concert Band Inc. MYB provides a quality concert band experience for young musicians in the Blue Mountains and surrounds, with dynamic leadership, competition opportunities and enrichment activities such as master classes.

Scholarships

Mountains Youth Band offers both professional performance through a combined annual concert with the band’s adult division, Blue Mountains Concert Band, and regular community service through performances at the Glenbrook Anzac Day ceremonies, school fairs, the Buckland Retirement Village concert and the Glenbrook combined churches Carols in the Park.

Mountains Youth Band was the 2009, 2010 and 2015 Australian National Concert Band Competition Champion in the under 19 years C division. The band has also gained second and third placings in the NSW Band Championships.

Membership is open to instrumentalists who:
a) Are 10 to 19 years of age
b) Have been playing for a minimum of two years OR have achieved AMEB Grade 1 or equivalent
c) Are undertaking, or are willing to commence, private lessons

Term fees attract family member discounts and performance shirts are loaned to instrumentalists.

Auditions are not required. Mountains Youth Band holds an annual open rehearsal for interested youth instrumentalists, and we welcome enquiries at any time through the year.

MOUNTAINS YOUTH BAND IS CURRENTLY SEEKING CLARINETS, PERCUSSION AND LOWER BRASS PLAYERS TO JOIN THE BAND! OTHER INSTRUMENTS ARE ALSO VERY WELCOME.
